Journey Upriver

I rushed through the trip upriver. You spent many hours with Morak and his followers, and they're not at all standoffish, though at least one is more than a bit intimidating.

Does anyone want to attempt any sort of conversation that will end up requiring a roll on the trip? I don't want you to miss your chance, if you think there is something that needed doing.

The Shiny Copper Clan

This is mainly an unknown thing to us. We swore to do this but don't really know anything about what we're supposed to do. Oshun wants to bond with Morak and his followers. I believe they told us their name on the Celestial dragon ship? Oshun asks them about their lives, their own reasons for doing this journey, etc etc. At the minimum I'm guessing a roll to have a relationship with these guys.

Not standing on ceremony

The past weeks as the new khan, filled with portentous ceremonies, leaves Oshun feeling a bit disoriented by the casual regard the spear bearers show him. As the Khan of the Zebras walks to the back of the boat the men are relaxed and they stay that way--lying around on piles of boat gear, sharing what shade can be found. A few nod at Oshun, more than you're used to make eye contact, but all seem at ease with your presence in a way you find odd and unexpected. None are disrespectful, but no one defers more than one fellow: He's missing most of his left ear and two fingers. He slides over enough to let you flop down next to him in the shade against the inside of the boat.

Do you?

The Mark

You see versions of this mark on several of the spear men here.

Not the only mark, and not the only mark in common, but the only one appearing a notable number of times on men who don't look related or from the same oasis.

6 on one hand, 3 on the other

After introducing myself I casually ask 8-fingers about the mark. Question: My copper spear talent was described as being an object like a small spear. does it resemble that mark?

So long ago

It does resemble it, though not exactly.

Remind me where and when you got the Copper Spear talent.

These Oasis People speak a weirdly accented version of a garbled mix of Pavic, TradeTalk and Praxian. "Bromine, seen dese hoods walkin' on doze red-green sands afta seein' 'em in ma dreams." He gestures toward the wastes when he mentions the sands. Others lying in the shade nod their heads. "How is ya not done dat too?" He sounds curious, not pointed in his questioning.

copper spear talent

I received the Copper spear talent after swearing an oath to be a spear in the rebirth of Genert. I believe the quest when we went to the underworld? On the same quest we were challenged later on by some group, it was a magic challenge. My opponent was a warrior who had "copper" magic and used that against me. I beat him and my copper talent shot up to 12W2. After I beat him he looked in awe at me and said something like "you are sworn to fight for Genert too?"

Got it

My question was for the narrator's info.

Eight Fingers' question still waits. Seems he's asking how you became part of this spirit society without doing it the way he did.

bump. I have some time this

bump.

I have some time this weekend for answering these, and I feel like I'm in a creative surge, so don't let the opportunity go, guys.

I'm Going To

Take a break from preparing my taxes and add to "Minotaur Mumbles" at some point this weekend.
Glad to hear about the creative surge. Maybe it relates to the "Green Age" urge we have this Spring.

Easter Update: I never took a break from preparing my taxes to work on "Minotaur Mumbles" and just lucky to be on track for filing before Tuesday!

Grumpy Gus

Unfortunately Speth spends the trip with a death grip on the mast(?) and staying as far as possible from the gunwales(?). She has no interest in conversation and curses non-stop about the following family on silly quests for no good reason.

Never summon anything bigger than your head.

A funny thing happened in the hero world

Got distracted by visiting family.

"Oshun, not upon red green sands visited by hoods, but upon a great quest in the world of heroes. We encountered Morak. With determination in his eyes and the power of his quest, he emboldened our spirits to swear oaths to this very quest we now embark upon as copper brothers."
